Jose Mazoy was named global CIO at Santander Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Mazoy is replacing Gonzalo Milans del Bosch, who left the company in December 2018 due to personal reasons, the spokeswoman confirmed. Mr. Mazoy starts in June.
Jacobo Ortega, CIO of Spain, and Eduardo Castro, CIO of Brazil, are interim co-CIO Europe and co-CIO Latin America, respectively, until Mr. Mazoy arrives in the role.
Mr. Mazoy worked as executive director and global head of dynamic strategies at UBS bank.
Santander had €172.1 billion ($196.8 billion) in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
