Andrew McCaffery was named global CIO, alternatives and solutions at Fidelity International, a spokesman confirmed.
The position is new. Mr. McCaffery will start in July and will spearhead the development of Fidelity's alternatives and solutions business, including multiasset, investment solutions and real estate teams. He will report to Bart Grenier, global head of asset management.
"This is a key new role for our business, and we are fortunate to have secured a CIO of (Mr. McCaffery's) experience and stature," Mr. Grenier said in a news release. "Given (he) has deep experience in this space, I'm confident we will grow these areas of our business significantly over the coming months and years."
Mr. McCaffery is global head of strategic client investments Aberdeen Standard Investments. A spokesman said Robert McKillop was named global head of product and client solutions, a new position, and will absorb some of Mr. McCaffery's responsibilities.
Fidelity had £221.3 billion ($280.8 billion) in assets under management in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia-Pacific and South America as of Dec. 31.
