Nithin Johnson was named executive director of business development at Tikehau Capital.
The position is new. Mr. Johnson will help develop and strengthen the firm's relationships in North America. He will be based in New York and report to Tim Grell, head of Tikehau Capital North America, and Frederic Giovansili, deputy CEO of Tikehau Investment Management.
"Tikehau has a very unique story in the way it was formed and the way it's grown," Mr. Johnson said in a phone interview. "But since they're new to America, that story's not known here. So, I'm looking forward to sharing that story with new partners."
Tikehau Capital opened its New York office — its first in North America — in October.
"We've only just begun to build our presence here in the U.S.," Mr. Grell said in the same phone interview. "We think there's a significant opportunity to add LPs across North America to our existing client base."
Mr. Johnson was head of Americas for international fund distribution at Citigroup. It could not be learned if he was replaced; Citigroup spokeswoman Patricia Tuma could not be immediately reached for comment.
Tikehau Capital had €22 billion ($25.2 billion) in assets under as of Dec. 31.
