Chris Ouellette was named head of corporate and social responsibility at BNP Paribas Asset Management, a spokesman said.
The role is new. Mr. Ouellette is responsible for incorporating corporate and social responsibility into the firm's culture. He is based in Paris and works within BNP Paribas' sustainability center, reporting to Jane Ambachtsheer, global head of sustainability.
"(Mr.) Ouellette has extensive experience in developing and implementing corporate and social responsibility and sustainability policies within global financial organizations, (which) will be key as we embed sustainability into the heart of our strategy, our culture and global operations, aligning with the wider BNP Paribas Group," Ms. Ambachtsheer said in a news release.
Mr. Ouellette was previously head of global corporate citizenship at Manulife Financial Corp. in Toronto. A spokeswoman could not be reached to comment about a replacement.
BNP Paribas AM has €399 billion ($448 billion) in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
