Gabriel Wilson-Otto was named head of stewardship Asia-Pacific at BNP Paribas Asset Management, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Wilson-Otto is leading stewardship activities in the Asia-Pacific region, including corporate governance and direct corporate engagement. He also works with policymakers on sustainable finance and investment issues, reporting to Helena Vines Fiestas, global head of stewardship and policy.
"(Mr. Wilson-Otto) is an active member across key environmental, social and governance organizations in the region and has been instrumental in helping companies evolve their corporate practices in key areas," Jane Ambachtsheer, global head of sustainability at BNP Paribas Asset Management, said in a news release.
Mr. Wilson-Otto had been executive director and head of GS Sustain, Goldman Sachs' global investment research division for Asia. A spokeswoman said a replacement was named but details were not available.
BNP Paribas AM has €399 billion ($453 billion) in assets under management.
