South Yorkshire Pensions Authority, Barnsley, England, hired CBRE Group to run an £80 million ($106 million) portfolio of loans to support property development in South Yorkshire, said George Graham, fund director, in a telephone interview.
The pension fund intends to make investments in the region in an effort to support the wider policy objectives of the councils, while not sacrificing the need for return or commercial considerations, Mr. Graham said in an email.
This is first time the pension fund has hired CBRE.
As of Dec. 31, the £8.1 billion pension fund's real estate allocation was 9.8%.
