Barton Holl was named managing director and head of insurance strategy at Sun Life Investment Management, a spokesman said in an email.
It is a new position. Based in the money manager's Wellesley, Mass., office, Mr. Holl will start March 18 and report to Brett Lousararian, head of insurance distribution.
Mr. Holl was previously co-head of insurance coverage at DWS Group, according to a Sun Life news release. Officials at DWS could not be immediately reached to provide further information.
Sun Life Investment Management's assets under management totaled $48 billion as of Dec. 31.
