Plan Sponsor Council of America announced Monday that Zvi Bodie, professor emeritus at Boston University, will receive the organization's lifetime achievement award.
"Zvi has spent his career working to build a more secure retirement future for America's workers and is considered a leading expert in our industry," said Jack Towarnicky, PSCA's executive director, in a news release.
Mr. Bodie has written several books to help investors save for retirement, including "Risk Less and Prosper: Your Guide to Safer Investing"; "Worry-Free Investing: A Safe Approach to Achieving Your Lifetime Financial Goals," co-authored by Michael J. Clowes, former editor and current editor at large of Pensions & Investments; and "Financial Economics," co-authored by Nobel Prize winning economist Robert C. Merton and David Cleeton.
Mr. Bodie joined the Boston University School of Management faculty in 1972 as a professor of finance and economics. In 2006, he was the first recipient of the Norman and Adele Barron Professorship.
Mr. Bodie served on the finance faculty at the Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management. He received a lifetime achievement award for applied research from the Retirement Income Industry Association in 2007.
"His impact has been far-reaching through his extensive research, writing and public speaking engagements," Mr. Towarnicky added. "We are thrilled to honor him with this prestigious award in acknowledgment of his impact on the (DC) industry."
Previous recipients include Cindy Hounsell, president of WISER, the Women's Institute for a Secure Retirement; Anna Rappaport, founder of Anna Rappaport Consulting; Nancy K. Webman, former editor of P&I; Karen Barnes, managing counsel for McDonald's Corp.; and David G. Booth, co-founder, co-CEO and chairman of Dimensional Fund Advisors.
Mr. Bodie will receive the award at the PSCA 2019 National Conference on April 30 in Tampa Bay, Fla.
PSCA established its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015 to honor individuals for their contributions to the growth of the defined contribution industry.
