Verizon Communications Inc., New York, anticipates contributing $900 million to its pension plans in 2019, according to a Form 10-K filed with the SEC.
The amount includes $300 million to its qualified pension plans, $100 million to its non-qualified pension plans and $500 million to its postretirement benefit plans, the Feb. 15 document said.
In 2018, the company contributed $1 billion to its qualified pension plans.
Verizon had $17.76 billion in plan assets as of Dec. 31, with a projected benefit obligation of $19.51 billion, for a funded ratio of 91%, up from 89% from the year before.
The discount rate for 2018 was 4.4%, up from 3.7% in 2017.
