Wyoming Retirement System’s executive director to retire July 31

Ruth Ryerson, executive director of the $8 billion Wyoming Retirement System, Cheyenne, will retire, effective July 31.

"I came to WRS because of its good reputation and sincere concern for its members and their families," Ms. Ryerson said in a news release announcing her retirement. "It has been very rewarding for me to take a good pension program and keep it strong for the next generation."

The board has formed a three-person search committee led by Vice Chairman Eric Nelson, to seek a replacement. The board has hired consulting firm Align to help facilitate the search, said Mike Bleakley, WRS' staff development and executive administrator, in an email.

The board hopes to make a decision at its May 15-16 meeting, Mr. Bleakley said. Although the start date would depend on the candidate's current employment situation, the board would like to have them start while Ms. Ryerson is still there to ensure a smooth transition.
