Virginia Retirement System, Richmond, committed or invested a total of $275 million to real estate and volatility equity.
The pension fund committed $125 million to Westbrook Real Estate Fund XI, a U.S. opportunistic real estate fund managed by Westbrook Partners, and invested $150 million in a Capstone Investment Advisors volatility equity strategy.
The investments were announced at the $80.2 billion pension fund's board meeting Thursday, spokeswoman Jeanne Chenault said.
