Michael Armitage joined Mercer in Melbourne as head of investment consulting for Australia, the company said Tuesday.
The position is new. In an email a Mercer spokeswoman said Mercer's investment consulting team — a part of the firm's larger institutional wealth team — has been led by Simon Eagleton, Mercer's institutional wealth leader, Pacific. Mr. Armitage's newly created role will facilitate "the growth of our investment consulting business," she said.
Mr. Armitage comes to Mercer from Milliman in Australia, where he served as director of investments.
Jeff Gebler, a Sydney-based principal with Milliman, declined to comment about "former colleagues" but confirmed that he and colleague Victor Huang are heading up a recently restructured investment services team at Milliman.
