Steve Yoon was promoted to investment officer of the $4.2 billion Chicago Municipal Employees' Annuity & Benefit Fund, said James Mohler, executive director, in an email.
Mr. Yoon, who joined the pension fund in October 2016, is now the fund's sole leader of investments.
As investment manager, his previous title, Mr. Yoon led the pension fund's investment decisions in collaboration with Mr. Mohler, who had previously served as chief investment officer before being named executive director in 2011.
Michael Walsh, the pension fund's last CIO, left in 2014 to become executive director and CIO of the $1.2 billion Chicago Laborers' Annuity & Benefit Fund.
