The median equity size for U.S. venture capital deals was a record $6.9 million at the end of the fourth quarter, up from $6 million in the quarter ended Sept. 30 and $5.5 million in the year-earlier quarter, according to data released Friday by the Dow Jones VentureSource U.S. venture capital report.
In all, U.S.-based venture capital backed companies received $43 billion in venture capital equity financings in 1,343 transactions in the quarter ended Dec. 31, up from $32.2 billion in 1,451 deals at the end of the third quarter and $22.1 billion in 1,336 transactions at the end of the year-earlier quarter.
