David Roth joined Ares Management as a partner and head of U.S. real estate private equity, spokesman Bill Mendel said.
It is a new position. Mr. Roth will lead the effort to increase Ares' increase equity real estate assets under management and expand its real estate business.
Until about a year ago, Mr. Roth was a senior managing director at Blackstone. His duties have been assumed by other members of Blackstone's real estate team, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. Blackstone spokeswoman Paula Chirhart declined to comment.
