Callan selects head of alternative investments

Petras "Pete" Keliuotis joined investment consultant Callan as executive vice president and head of alternative investments on Jan. 2.

The position is new. Mr. Keliuotis will be based in the firm's Summit, N.J., office and report to the firm's president, James Callahan, Callan spokeswoman Elizabeth Anathan confirmed.

Mr. Keliuotis oversees the firm's seven-member private equity and hedge fund consulting teams, which are supported by Callan's investment research, performance reporting and data analysis groups.

"Pete has many years of experience leading private markets and alternatives teams and (has) a rich understanding of institutional investor needs, which we believe will help us take our direct alternatives research and consulting capabilities to the next level," said Ivan "Butch" Cliff, executive vice president and director of research, in a news release.

Mr. Keliuotis was senior managing director and served on portfolio advisory team at alternative investment consultant Cliffwater. He left the firm in November and his duties have been absorbed by others on the team, Cliffwater CEO Stephen L. Nesbitt said in an email.
