Jacobo Ortega, chief investment officer Spain at Santander Asset Management, was named interim co-CIO Europe, a spokeswoman said.
In addition, Eduardo Castro, CIO Brazil, was named interim co-CIO Latin America.
Messrs. Ortega and Castro replace Gonzalo Milans del Bosch, global CIO, who has decided to leave the company "due to personal reasons," the spokeswoman confirmed. She did not elaborate.
"Santander is creating two regional hubs to better coordinate our local efforts in Latin America and Europe, and make our operations more efficient and reliable," the spokeswoman said.
As part of that effort, Lazaro de Lazaro was named head of the new European hub and Luis Garcia-Izquierdo, global chief financial officer, was appointed head of the Latin American hub.
Miguel Angel Sanchez Lozano was appointed CEO of SAM Spain, replacing Mr. de Lazaro.
Santander had €177.1 billion ($202 billion) in assets under management, as of September, of which European AUM was €97 billion and Latin American AUM, €80.1 billion.
