Mary Seminara-Schostok was elected chairwoman of the Illinois State Board of Investments, Chicago, a news release said.
Ms. Schostok, who is an Illinois state appellate court judge and has served on the board since 2013, was elected unanimously at the board's Dec. 11 meeting.
She succeeds Marc Levine, who joined the board as chairman in 2015 and remains a member.
Ms. Schostok is also chairwoman of the Illinois Judges' Retirement System, one of three defined benefit plans overseen by ISBI. The board manages a total of $18.3 billion in defined benefit assets for the judges' system, Illinois State Employees' Retirement System and Illinois General Assembly Retirement System, as well as $4.6 billion for the State of Illinois Employees' Deferred Compensation Plan.
