Mark Dowding was named chief investment officer at BlueBay Asset Management, a spokeswoman for the money manager confirmed.
Mr. Dowding will take the responsibilities from Raphael Robelin, who will become head of multiasset credit, a new role.
The changeover will take place in the second quarter of 2019.
Mr. Dowding will retain his current responsibilities as co-head of developed markets.
As CIO, Mr. Dowding will oversee the firm's investment framework. He also will join the management committee and board.
He will be supported in his role as CIO by David Riley, chief investment strategies, and Spencer Woodward, director of investment operations. Messrs. Riley and Woodward will work with Mr. Dowding on non-investment CIO responsibilities, enabling him to retain his investment responsibilities.
Mr. Dowding will continue to manage strategies he already is running.
BlueBay has about $60 billion in assets under management.
