Jonathan Larkin was named a managing director at Columbia Investment Management Co., which manages New York-based Columbia University's $10.9 billion endowment, university spokesman Robert Hornsby confirmed.
Mr. Larkin replaced managing director of operations Julius Mercado, who was recently promoted to chief operating officer after Sanjeev Daga left to join the staff of Harvard Management Co., which runs the $37.1 billion endowment of Harvard University.
Mr. Hornsby did not have additional information about Mr. Larkin's role.
Mr. Larkin was chief investment officer at quantitative investment manager Quantopian. Jessica Stauth, managing director, portfolio management and research, assumed his responsibilities, said Quantopian spokeswoman Kelly Elmstrom.
