Dirk Goergen was named head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa coverage at DWS Group, a spokesman said.
Mr. Goergen will replace Thorsten Michalik at the end of the month, following changes to the DWS executive board. Mr. Michalik will leave the firm at the end of the month.
"I have worked closely with Dirk Goergen for many years. (He is) an outstanding individual who brings a diverse set of qualities to (his role) and very strong track record of success," said CEO Asoka Woehrmann said in a news release. "With these changes to our executive board, we have the right leadership team in place to focus all our efforts on doing our best for our clients, our investors and our colleagues in DWS."
Mr. Goergen was head of sales for private clients Germany in the private and commercial banking unit of Deutsche Bank.
DWS Group has $803 billion in assets under management.
