Kumber Husain was named head of private equity, Americas, at DWS Group, spokeswoman Madison Hanlon confirmed in an email.
The position is new. Mr. Husain will focus on sourcing and executing direct co-investment and secondary private equity transactions, as well as providing new investment opportunities and custom solutions for clients' already existing investment strategies. He will be based in New York and report to Mark McDonald, global head of private equity.
Mr. Husain was a portfolio manager on the senior investment team at Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners. A Morgan Stanley spokeswoman could not be reached for additional information.
DWS Group had $803 billion of assets under management as of Sept. 30.
