Gary Tankersley was promoted to head of sales and distribution for John Hancock Retirement Plan Services, reporting to Patrick Murphy, president and CEO of the record keeper.
Mr. Tankersley, whose appointment is effective immediately, will be responsible increasing John Hancock's business "in all segments of the market, encompassing startups to large organizations and the Taft-Hartley market to drive new sales," said a company news release. He also will be in charge of "expanding and overseeing" the company's relationship with broker dealers.
Mr. Tankersley, who holds the title of senior vice president, replaced Bob Carroll, who "left the firm for another opportunity," Melissa Berczuk, a John Hancock spokeswoman, wrote in an email.
Mr. Tankersley had been divisional vice president for the central region, which includes 13 states and parts of four other states, Ms. Berczuk wrote. Kent Lepard succeeds Mr. Tankersley in that role.
