Steve Ellis was named global chief investment officer, fixed income, at Fidelity International, a spokeswoman confirmed.
Effective Jan. 1, Mr. Ellis will replace Charles McKenzie, who will retire at the end of 2018.
Mr. Ellis will oversee Fidelity's $85 billion in global fixed-income assets. He will report to Bart Grenier, global head of asset management.
Mr. Ellis is a portfolio manager at Fidelity. Paul Greer and Eric Wong, co-managers with Mr. Ellis' on emerging markets debt portfolios, will assume his responsibilities.
Fidelity International had £236.5 billion ($308 billion) in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
