Washington University in St. Louis' endowment returned a net 10.9% for the fiscal year ended June 30, said Julie Hail Flory, university spokeswoman, in an email.
For the three, five and 10 years ended June 30, the endowment returned an annualized net 6.1%, 7.6% and 5.8% respectively. For the year ended June 30, 2017, the endowment returned a net 11.3%.
Ms. Flory said the university does not provide information on benchmarks or returns on individual asset classes.
As of June 30, the actual allocation was: 29% private equity and venture capital; 24% developed markets equities; 20% absolute return; 12% emerging markets equities; 9% real estate and natural resources; and 6% fixed income and cash.
The university's endowment pool is overseen by Washington University Investment Management Co., which manages a total of $8.5 billion including $7.6 billion in endowment funds.
