The position is new. Ms. Mahurkar focuses on Asia, China and emerging markets offerings inside of the firm's 4Factor equity investment team.
"(Ms. Mahurka's) extensive expertise and deep knowledge of investing in Asia and emerging markets is ideally suited to further developing our investment capabilities in this area. She will be instrumental in helping to develop our business for the next exciting phase of growth, given the demand we have seen for the asset class," said Greg Kuhnert, portfolio manager at Investec, in a news release.
Ms. Mahurkar was previously co-head of global emerging market equities product at Pictet Asset Management. She was in charge of Pictet's long/short PTR Banyan Asia equity fund until 2014, when the fund closed. According to a Pictet spokesman, she was not replaced.
