Brian O'Donnell was named head of business strategy, enablement and administration for the funds and managed accounts group at Northern Trust Asset Management, a news release said.
It is a newly created position. Mr. O'Donnell is "responsible for developing business strategy to deliver the firm's ETF, mutual fund and multiasset-class investment solutions, as well as business intelligence, to optimize its service model for intermediary and institutional investors," the news release added.
He was previously managing director and head of Americas cash and liquidity sales distribution at BlackRock.
BlackRock spokesman Curtis Chou said Mr. O'Donnell's responsibilities have been taken on by other members of his team.
