Jeff Hussey, global chief investment officer at Russell Investments, is stepping down effective Oct. 15, spokesman James Aber said in an email.
Mr. Hussey's plans could not be immediately learned. He was named global CIO in August 2013, succeeding Peter Gunning, who took over at the time as CEO of the Asia-Pacific region for Russell. Mr. Gunning will return to the global CIO role on an interim basis while a search for Mr. Hussey's replacement proceeds and will also continue in his current role.
"Given our confidence in Pete, and the depth of leadership talent on our investment team, we have the ability to evaluate all options for a permanent global CIO," Mr. Aber said.
Russell Investments has about $290 billion in assets under management.
