Wouter Sturkenboom was named chief investment strategist for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific regions at Northern Trust Asset Management, a spokesman said.
The role is new. Mr. Sturkenboom helps to develop tactical and strategic investment strategies and supports the firm's multiasset class strategies worldwide.
"With (Mr. Sturkenboom) deep capital market expertise, extensive analytical experience and comprehensive understanding of global markets, we are confident he will help us deliver distinctive insights that will resonate with investors worldwide," Jim McDonald, chief investment strategist, said in a news release.
Mr. Sturkenboom had been senior investment strategist at Russell Investments. A spokesman said Russell is in the process of hiring an additional strategist in its New York office.
Northern Trust Asset Management had $954.4 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
