The Investment Company Institute has launched a new website that aims to prove the American retirement system is on solid footing.
FactsOnRetirement.org went live Sept. 5 and features ICI retirement research and data, addresses common misconceptions about retirement preparedness and provides tips for those who want to learn more about saving for retirement.
The website will help make ICI's research "more readily available and easily accessible to the growing body of academics, policymakers, and the public who are engaged on retirement issues," said Paul Schott Stevens, ICI president and CEO, in a news release. "Whether you're new to the issue or a seasoned expert, we believe this site will be a valuable resource that shows how we can build on the strengths of the current system to enhance retirement savings — and security — in the United States."
The website has four sections that detail ICI's findings and tips, including one called Myth vs. Fact, which, among other things, dispels the notion that most workers aren't covered by a workplace retirement plan. ICI research shows that 73% of working individual income tax filers aged 25 to 64 with incomes of $20,000 or more, and working joint filers aged 25 to 64 with incomes of $40,000 or more, participate in retirement plans directly or through a spouse.
