Mark Warner will join Equis Group, a Singapore-based infrastructure private equity manager, on Sept. 18 as a partner.
The position is new, said a spokeswoman for the firm in an email. Mr. Warner will have responsibility for management functions previously shared by Equis partners, such as human resources, finance and business reporting.
He will also take an active role in fundraising, the spokeswoman said.
Mr. Warner was senior managing director of private markets for the University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Co., Austin. He served as interim CEO and chief investment officer at UTIMCO from October 2016 through July 2017, overseeing investment of $44.9 billion in endowment and operating funds.
Mr. Warner's duties will be assumed by others on UTIMCO's investment team, said Cathy Brandewie, a spokeswoman for the University of Texas System, in an email.
"Over the past 11 years, Mark has been a very effective investor and valued partner at UTIMCO and he will be sorely missed. We wish Mark nothing but the best in his new position," said T. Britton Harris III, UTIMCO's CIO, in an emailed statement,
David Russell, a partner and co-founder of Equis, said in a news release that Mr. Warner, who came to know Equis as a "limited partner and member of our advisory committee" since the firm's inception in 2011, will help Equis pursue "significant new investment and growth opportunities" its investment team has identified.
According to Equis' website, the firm has raised more than $2.7 billion in private equity since 2011.
