James Hughes was named head of dynamic solutions at Natixis Investment Managers effective Dec. 1, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Hughes will lead a new business unit formed through the merger of Natixis' European investment capabilities into a centralized group that builds on the expertise of its portfolio research and consulting groups, and also includes the former investment and client unit of Ostrum Asset Management.
"(The business) brings together the existing asset allocation and portfolio construction expertise of our group into a single entity to address complex investment challenges utilizing the diverse expertise of our global multiaffiliate organization. (Mr. Hughes) has the breadth and depth of global experience to lead the rapid development of this business," CEO Jean Raby said in a news release.
Mr. Hughes was previously global head of strategic client solutions for Aberdeen Standard Investments. Ian MacDonald, deputy head of investment solutions, will assume Mr. Hughes' responsibilities, a spokesman said.
Natixis Investment Managers had $988.4 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
