Roman Regelman was named senior executive vice president and head of digital at Bank of New York Mellon, leading the creation of a unit at the financial services firm that will focus on developing financial technology, the company said in a news release.
The position is new. He will join the firm on Sept. 17.
Mr. Regelman will oversee client-facing and internal development of digital capabilities including data management, analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics, according to the release.
He will report to Charles Scharf, chairman and CEO, and will join the company's executive committee.
Mr. Regelman was partner, managing director and co-leader of the financial institutions digital business at Boston Consulting Group. A spokeswoman at BCG couldn't be immediately reached for information on his replacement.
