Mark Shulgan was named managing director at Ontario Municipal Employees' Retirement System, Toronto, confirmed Neil Hrab, spokesman for the C$95 billion ($72.8 billion) retirement system.
The position is new. Mr. Shulgan will be part of OMERS' platform investments team, where he will be responsible for building relationships with private high-growth companies. He will report to John Ruffolo, CEO of OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of the retirement system.
Mr. Shulgan was co-founder and head of the thematic Investing team at the C$366.6 billion Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Toronto, which was responsible for investing in high-growth companies. It could not be learned if he was replaced; CPPIB spokesman Darryl Konynenbelt could not be immediately reached for comment.
