Emily Portney was named head of asset servicing, Americas, at Bank of New York Mellon, a spokesman confirmed.
She replaced Dan Smith, executive vice president, who was named to a new position as head of asset servicing business resiliency, which will focus on disaster recovery as well as other matters related to maintaining full business operations, the spokesman said.
Ms. Portney will oversee BNY Mellon asset servicing business in the U.S. and Latin America as well as the company's interest in CIBC Mellon, the firm's Canadian joint venture with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
She will report to Hani Kablawi, BNY Mellon's global asset servicing CEO.
Ms. Portney was chief financial officer for wholesale bank Barclays International.
