Among the schools in the AP’s preseason NCAA college football top 25, Michigan State led the group over the one-year period ended June 2017 with a 15.4% return; Texas Christian and Alabama lagged the group with returns of 8.6% and 10.6%, respectively. Roll tide indeed. The Big Ten schools represented well across the data set, with an average return of 14.1%, about 1.1 percentage points higher than the group average.
Despite falling behind its peers over the one-year period, Notre Dame has done well against the set over the three- and five-year periods ended June 2017, with returns of 6.9% and 10.3%, respectively. Alabama and Miami lagged the group over the five-year period, returning 6.6% and 7.8%, respectively.
