Thomas Murphy was named head of affiliate development and business strategy at Sun Life Investment Management, spokeswoman Rebecca Bender said in an email.
Mr. Murphy will begin the new Wellesley, Mass.-based position on Sept. 4 and will be responsible for driving the money manager's global business strategy for its third-party institutional business, a news release said. He will report to Steve Peacher, Sun Life Investment Management's president.
Mr. Murphy was previously U.S. wealth leader at Mercer. He was replaced on Aug. 8 by Christine Mahoney.
Sun Life Investment Management and its affiliates have $47 billion in assets under management.
