Kentucky Retirement Systems, Frankfort, returned a net 8.57% on its pension fund assets in the fiscal year ended June 30, surpassing its 7.91% benchmark, said a performance report posted on the retirement system's website.
Last fiscal year, KRS' pension assets returned a net 13.47%.
By asset class, private equity and U.S. public equity posted the highest returns at 14.52% each, followed by global public equity at 12.43%, real estate, 11.22%; international equity, 10.86%; absolute return, 5.52%; real return, 1.96%; cash, 1.9%; and fixed income, 1.41%.
For the three, five, 10 and 20 years ended June 30, the retirement system, which has $12.3 billion across its five retirement plans, returned a net annualized 7.01%, 7.63%, 6.18%, and 5.89%, respectively, vs. its benchmark returns of 6.86%, 7.57%, 6.48%, and 5.98% in each of those periods.
