Martin Visairas was named managing director, institutional at Old Mutual Global Investors, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new, but Mr. Visairas will pick up the responsibilities of Craig Stevenson, head of institutional and consultant relations, who left in May, the spokeswoman added. Further details were not available.
Mr. Visairas will start Aug. 22 and will report to Warren Tonkinson, managing director, distribution.
Mr. Visairas will be responsible for working with the £30.7 billion ($39.9 billion) money manager's institutional client base and for expanding the firm's presence by targeting new clients from financial institutions, private banks and pension funds.
"Over the last few years, we've steadily grown our presence in the institutional market," Mr. Tonkinson said in a news release. "Having launched a number of products designed for sophisticated investors, we are keen to capitalize on the momentum we've achieved in this space and further build our presence."
Mr. Visairas was global head of capital introductions at Citigroup, the OMGI news release said. A spokeswoman declined to comment on a replacement.
