Data released Wednesday by RiskFirst show that 30% of U.S. pension plans are more than 95% funded, and 45% are 90% funded or better. The number of plans above 95% funded grew by 50% since the first quarter. Risk First noted in its accompanying report that a 50-basis-point increase in long-term yields would push to 40% the number of plans whose funding ratios exceed 95%.
