Anastasia Titarchuk was named interim chief investment officer of the New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, succeeding Vicki Fuller, who will retire at the end of this month.
Ms. Titarchuk has been deputy CIO since February 2015.
"My thanks go to Vicki Fuller, during whose tenure the fund has reached a record annual value and provided annualized investment returns that exceed our target rate," said Thomas DiNapoli, the state comptroller and sole trustee of the $206.9 billion pension fund, in a news release Thursday. "The fund is fortunate to have Anastasia Titarchuk, who brings a wealth of experience to the position and has proven her skill and knowledge over her years as our deputy CIO."
Ms. Titarchuk joined the pension fund in 2011. Before becoming deputy CIO, she had been director of absolute-return strategies.
The office will consider the possibility of a national CIO search later this year, a spokesman said.
