Troy Searles, chief investment officer of the $4.1 billion Louisiana Parochial Employees' Retirement System, Baton Rouge, resigned on July 13, said Dainna S. Tully, administrative director.
Ms. Tully did not know Mr. Searles' plans.
He joined the pension fund as CIO in July 2014 from the $11.6 billion Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System, Baton Rouge, where he had been deputy CIO.
PERSLA has posted an ad for the position of CIO on the National Association of State Retirement Administrators website. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. CDT on Aug. 31.
Ms. Tully said she will handle Mr. Searles' responsibilities in the interim, with the assistance of investment consultant Segal Marco Advisors.
Efforts to reach Mr. Searles were not immediately successful.
