Akitoshi Yamada will join Pantheon Group as managing director, head of Japan for the private markets investment firm's newly opened office in Tokyo.
Mr. Yamada joins Pantheon from Nippon Life Insurance Co., where he served as deputy general manager of the company's foreign equity and alternative investment department, a London-based Pantheon spokeswoman said.
A Nippon Life spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Pantheon currently has roughly $38 billion in assets under management globally, invested in private equity, infrastructure and real assets on behalf of more than 450 clients, a news release said.
The spokeswoman declined to say how much of those assets the firm currently invests on behalf of Japan-based clients.
