Martijn Rozemuller was named European head at Van Eck Associates following the firm's acquisition of Dutch exchange-traded funds provider Think ETF Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Rozemuller is responsible for expanding the firm's ETF business in Europe. Also, Mr. Rozemuller and Think ETF co-founder Gijs Koning form the European board of operations. Mr. Rozemuller reports to CEO, Jan F. van Eck.
"Rozemuller has a wealth of experience, having founded and successfully grown Think ETFs over a period of more than 10 years. Think ETFs and Van Eck share the same values and philosophy — to represent the interests of the client for the long term. Together we will assume an even stronger position in Europe," Mr. van Eck said in a news release.
Mr. Rozemuller was previously managing director of Think ETF, which was acquired by VanEck on June 29, after announcing the deal in January.
VanEck has $45 billion in assets under management. The acquisition of Think ETF boosted the firm's assets under management in undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities, known as UCITS, to $2.6 billion.
