Greg Schuler was named chief investment officer at University of Pittsburgh.
He replaces Amy K. Marsh, former CIO and treasurer, who retired March 31. Mr. Schuler will oversee investment and management of the university's $4 billion consolidated endowment, university spokesman Kevin Zwick confirmed in an email.
The board also approved Paul Lawrence as the university's treasurer.
Mr. Schuler was CIO and treasurer for BJC HealthCare, St. Louis, where he oversaw the organization's $8 billion investment portfolio. The company has started a search for his replacement, said BJC spokeswoman Kim Kitson. In the meantime, two investment team directors — Doug Garrett, director of investment research, and Joe Thomas, director of investments — will serve as interim co-CIOs.
