James Edwards was named director of U.K. institutional sales at BMO Global Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Edwards is responsible for expanding BMO's client base in the U.K. and focuses on corporate pension funds and charities.
A source close to the firm said Mr. Edwards replaced Paul Fleming. Mr. Fleming was named principal at Mercer; a spokeswoman said the Mercer role is new.
"As we continue to build out our institutional offering in the U.K. and Europe, we are pleased to welcome someone of (Mr. Edwards') caliber into the team. His long-standing experience in the industry will be beneficial when engaging and supporting clients with their investment needs," said Greg Skinner, head of U.K. institutional and consultant relations at BMO, in a news release.
Mr. Edwards was previously a fixed-income product strategist at BlackRock. A spokeswoman said Mr. Edwards' responsibilities have been assumed by other members of the team.
BMO Global had C$436 billion ($337 billion) in assets under management as of Jan. 31.
