Jainen "JT" Thayer was named chief investment officer for Grinnell College, said a news release by the college in Grinnell, Iowa.
He replaces David Clay, interim CIO, who took on the role after CIO Scott L. Wilson let the college to become CIO of Washington University Investment Management Co. in St. Louis in December, overseeing the school's $7.5 billion endowment.
Beginning in mid-September, Mr. Thayer will oversee the Grinnell investment office responsible for managing the college's $1.9 billion endowment. He will report to Grinnell College President Raynard S. Kington.
Grinnell College spokeswoman Lisa Lacher could not be immediately reached for comment.
Mr. Thayer was CIO at Oberlin College's investment office in New York, overseeing the Ohio-based college's $872 million endowment. Oberlin spokesman Scott Wargo confirmed that Mr. Thayer left but did not provide additional details.
