Richard House was named chief investment officer of emerging market debt at Allianz Global Investors, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. House replaces Greg Saichin, who is leaving and taking a career break. The spokeswoman said he does not yet have definitive plans.
Mr. Saichin was at the firm for five years and established the global emerging markets debt capability.
Mr. House is based in London and reports to Malie Conway, chief investment officer of global fixed income.
He was previously head of emerging markets debt at Standard Life Investments. The firm merged with Aberdeen Asset Management last year. A spokeswoman for the combined company said Brett Diment, who came from the Aberdeen side, is head of emerging markets debt and now leads that team.
AllianzGI has €500 billion ($664.8 billion) in assets under management.
