Commonfund promotes CIO to CEO role; current leader heads to BNY Mellon Wealth Management

Catherine M. Keating

Mark J.P. Anson was named president and CEO of Commonfund, replacing Catherine M. Keating, who will leave the firm at the end of June.

Mr. Anson will retain his duties as Commonfund's chief investment officer, with support from Deborah Spalding and Kristofer Kwait, who were promoted to the newly created roles of deputy CIOs, confirmed Tony Ialeggio, chief marketing officer, in an email.

Ms. Spalding and Mr. Kwait, who are Commonfund managing directors, will retain their current roles. Ms. Spalding is responsible for the design of customized investment solutions for Commonfund's investment advisory clients. Mr. Kwait is head of investments with oversight of the firm's marketable equity, fixed income, hedge funds and real assets teams and analytics.

Ms. Keating will join BNY Mellon Wealth Management as CEO on July 9, replacing Donald J. Heberle, who left the company at the end of March, said Andrew Conn, a BNY Mellon spokesman, in an email.

Commonfund manages $25 billion for institutional investors. BNY Mellon Wealth Management manages $246 billion for high-net-worth investors.
