Robby Winarta will join Carlyle Group's Asian private equity business in Jakarta as a managing director and Long Hoang will join in Singapore as a director, according to a Carlyle announcement Wednesday.
Both positions are new and will expand the firm's Southeast Asian team to eight investment professionals from six, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Winarta comes to Carlyle from Credit Suisse, where he served as head of Indonesia investment banking coverage, the news release said.
Mr. Hoang was previously at TPG Capital Asia, where he served as a vice president covering Singapore and Vietnam, the release said. A spokesman for TPG couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
The Carlyle news release said Mr. Winarta will start on July 2, leading the firm's investment activities in Indonesia. Mr. Hoang will start on June 1 and focus on Vietnam.
The news release said Carlyle planted its flag in Asia in 1998, and currently has nine offices in the region. From that beginning through March 31, the firm's private equity platform has invested more than $15 billion of equity. It currently has $16.3 billion of assets under management, the release said.
